Community

Our community consists of two wards – Llancarfan and Llantrithyd, with other villages and hamlets falling within the Llancarfan ward; namely Llanbethery, Llancadle and Moulton.

These communities were largely untouched by the industrialisation of the 19th and 20th centuries, instead depending on farming and associated activities. Affluence and demographic changes have recently altered the make up and occupations of many of the residents of the area. Now agriculture is concentrated on a small number of farms with a significant number of residents commuting to jobs in Cardiff and other locations outside the area.

Within the Community Council boundary there is a primary school, one community hall, two local historic parish churches, three public houses and a number of listed buildings. The area also comprises a number of Conservation areas.
